The New
2012 'Get Set' Network
- Get Set network link:

- Why join the Get Set network? As well as creating opportunities
for children and young people to get involved in the excitement of
the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games members of the network
gain access to exclusive rewards and opportunities including: the
right to use the London 2012 Education logo, which has been
designed by young people
- Latest membership of network: There are 2 schools in the West
Midlands that have been invited to join this exclusive network
(there are only 51 network schools nationwide); one of those
schools is Catshill Middle School in Worcestershire.
- Catshill Middle school in Bromsgrove are celebrating after been
accepted into the London 2012 Olympic Get Set Network. The award of
being able to use the Olympic and Paralympic logos celebrates the
community work done with Chadsgrove PD school around issues of
disability.The two schools have worked together on a number of
projects including young leaders supporting pe lessons at
Chadsgrove and wheelchair basketball sessions involving pupils from
both schools. Future events include celebrating the 1000 day
countdown to the Paralympics on December 3rd, when pupils will join
with North Bromsgrove High school and Waseley High to work together
on paralympic sport taster sessions. Throughout the link the
schools are beginning to explore the Olympic and Paralympic values
of Friendship, Respect,Equality, Inspiration, Courage,
Determination and Excellence.

- a) ‘Get Set to Lead’ – an online, interactive game for 14-16
year olds.
- Through the game young people work with a team of fictional
friends to help their school live the Olympic and Paralympic
Values. They must form a committee, run events and make the most of
the London 2012 Games. The game is designed to support students in
leading a real life Get Set network application and was promoted to
registered schools and colleges through the November

- b) ‘Tell a story’ and ‘The Values’ - online, interactive games
for 3-5 year olds.
- Through the games children have the chance to explore the
Values through a character led story and illustrations.

- c) Olympic Park fact sheets
- Fact sheets titled ‘History of the Olympic Park’ and ‘A green
Olympic Park’, courtest of the ODA. Helping students to learn more
about the construction of the Olympic Park, exploring topics
including archaeology and sustainability.

- Launch of Get Enterprising
- Get Enterprising is the London 2012 enterprise programme,
funded by DCSF and delivered by LOCOG. It includes free resources,
case studies and maps sharing best practice, teacher guidance and
ideas for using the London 2012 Games as a hook for enterprise
teaching and learning.
- ‘Have you got what it takes?’ is the flagship resource
available through Get Enterprising. The resource encourages
students to work in teams to win the right to host a Pre-Games
Training Camp, whilst developing valuable enterprise skills.
- Schools using the ‘Have you got what it takes?’ resources
before April 2010 can enter a national competition to win a trip to
the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland.

- Who Do We Think We Are grants (closes 12 February
2010)
- Schools in England are invited to apply for a £500 grant to
support their WDWTWA week activities in June 2010.
