Use of the Olympic 2012 non-commercial brand – The Inspire Mark

Inspire Mark

IROGLatest Information

  • The London 2012 Inspire programme is an opportunity for everyone to be a part of the London 2012 Games.  It is open to local authorities and non-commercial organisations which deliver projects that are inspired or energised by the 2012 Games.  The Inspire programme aims to increase sport participation at the grassroots level, improve Olympic and Paralympic medal table performance as well as outcomes related to education, sustainability, culture, business skills and volunteering.
  • The London 2012 Inspire programme team are especially keen to see more sport projects and events awarded the Inspire Mark.  Councils are the key delivery agent for sport and physical activity and so are ideally placed to work in partnership with London 2012 to increase sport participation.
  • Councils can put forward eligible projects by completing a simple application form.  Successful projects can carry the London 2012 inspire mark logo on a wide range of marketing material and receive communications support from LOCOG to help boost participation. This might involve: inclusion in targeted 2012 media campaigns, London 2012 representatives at your key events, blog and feature content on the London 2012 website and features in our e- newsletters sent to targeted audiences.
  • Projects also need to demonstrate that they are well-planned and managed and fully funded; participative and accessible and free from commercial support or association.

ROGFuture Opportunities

ROGPotential Benefits

  • Chosen projects will be granted the right to use the 'Inspire mark' on various project materials, such as posters, brochures and Website. (This will be subject to the standard license agreement) The Inspire mark is part of the London 2012 brand family
  • It is the first time any Host City has had a brand available for non-commercial use.
  • Inspiring non-commercial organisations right across the UK to work in new ways - working with new audiences, trying new mediums and forging partnerships where there just wasn't the impetus to previously.
  • Significant promotion and profile (status)

ROGLimitations

  • All or most of the funding you need for your project should be secured before you apply to London 2012
  • The mark is based on the official London 2012 logo but does not include the Olympic five-rings
  • The programme is aimed at not-for-profit projects without commercial funding. However, in exceptional circumstances where commercial funders are receiving no or minimal recognition for their contribution to the proposal, London 2012 may be able to consider this on a case-by-case basis
