Successful launch found in WorcestershireCecil

More than 300 invited guests gathered for the official launch of Worcestershire's new online business community, finditinworcestershire (Tuesday, February 15).

The finditinworcestershire.com business portal and a whole programme of wider networking events have been developed by Worcestershire County Council.

The project aims to boost the county’s economy by giving local businesses the support and contacts they need to pitch for and win more and bigger contracts – and to 'match-make' local businesses that can trade with each other.

The launch event at Worcester Warriors' Sixways Stadium saw guests from every business sector in the county networking over a complimentary breakfast.

Attendees heard from Cecil Duckworth OBE (Chairman of Worcester Warriors), Neil Schofield (Worcester Bosch), Tony Hyde (Thomas Vale), Dean Attwell (Oakland International) and Diane Tilley (Worcestershire County Council). Guests also met some of the county's biggest buyers in the 'exhibition marketplace', including Thomas Vale, Breakwells LLP, Kier Moss, SpellerMetcalfe, Wolseley UK and Worcester, Bosch Group.

The finditinworcestershire team showed guests around the new website on special computer pods, demonstrating how businesses can use the site to find contracts to tender for, and to advertise their services to the local business community.

Diane Diane Tilley, Worcestershire County Council's Director of Planning, Economy & Performance who spoke at the launch, said: "The whole finditinworcestershire programme has been designed to work together. The website offers access to genuine commercial opportunities, the networking events help to create a business-focussed community and the extra training and resources add value for each member. The overall concept is, as far as we know, a first at a countywide level.demonstration of product

"Worcestershire was already in a good position to take opportunities for growth when conditions improve, but the launch of finditinworcestershire is a very welcome boost now and I'm sure it will prove to be a very valuable tool in the years to come."

Any businesses that haven't registered with finditinworcestershire can still do so by visiting www.finditinworcestershire.com and creating a profile for free. Registered members will be kept up-to-date with the latest opportunities, contracts, suppliers, business news and networking opportunities.

The next breakfast meeting will be on Tuesday, March 29 at Sixways Stadium from 7–9.30am (registration 6:45am) and places are available through the website's online booking system.
