Safer Communities Board

The Safer Communities Board's role is to develop and oversee partnership work on community safety, substance misuse, domestic violence and youth offending.

Despite statistics which show that Worcestershire is a relatively safe place to live, crime and fear of crime remains a major concern for Worcestershire residents.

Each district has a Community Safety Partnership, where agencies work together on local initiatives to tackle crime and fear of crime.

The county group works with district based partnerships to help them meet the requirements of the Crime and Disorder Act. This includes working and training, developing systems to support collection of data, monitoring performance, and some provision of grant aid for local initiatives – particularly those where there might be lessons learnt for countywide implementation.

The key contact point is Tim Rice, Community Safety Manager at Worcestershire County Council. Tim can be contacted on (01905) 722182 or email trice@worcestershire.gov.uk
