Worcestershire Partnership Environment Group
(WPEG)
About WPEG
The Worcestershire Partnership Environment Group (WPEG) acts as
Worcestershire's environmental voice in the county and the region.
Membership of WPEG is drawn from a broad range of knowledge and
experience in the environmental field and includes representatives
from the public, private and voluntary sectors. Full meetings of
WPEG occur four times per year. WPEG meetings provide an
opportunity to discuss and resolve key issues, introduce new
members, items and ideas, and provide a basis for preparing WPEG's
official responses to consultations.
The group has good links with other theme groups, as
environmental issues are clearly cross-cutting.
WPEG aims to advance the environmental threads of the
Sustainable Community Strategy and to act as the primary advisor to
the Worcestershire Partnership on all environmental matters.
There are a number of task groups within WPEG, each focussing on
different issues that have an influence on Worcestershire's
environment. Some of these task groups operate through face-to-face
meetings, others operate mainly through email contact, according to
their needs.
The State of the Environment
A further task group monitors the State of the Environment, and
produces an annual State of the Environment report to monitor a
series of indicators. This provides a measure of the condition of
Worcestershire's natural and historic environment.
