Discrimination
is about the way we "act". If we favour one group of people over
another, then we are discriminating. It is these "acts" that may
result in an individual or group being unfairly treated, and this
is illegal.
For example, if you are refused the opportunity to rent a house,
place your child in school or open a bank account, and this refusal
is based on your nationality, then you are being discriminated
against.

Report
it!
If you have been discriminated against, you should record what
has happened, where and when, and you should report it.
There are a number of ways you can do this:
1) If possible, speak to the manager of the organisation
concerned or someone in seniority.
2) Report it to the Worcestershire Racial Equality Council who
can help in a variety of ways, including:
- Offering free and independent help and advice
You can contact them on 01905 29283 or e-mail wrec@hotmail.co.uk
3) The Citizens
Advice Bureau can give you advice about what to do. In some
cases, they may also be able to give you legal assistance and help
you to bring your case before a court or tribunal.
