Strategies and Plans

Together, we have developed a vision for Worcestershire.  This vision is based on what Worcestershire residents told us was important to them in making our county a great place to visit, work or live in.

Our vision is for “a county with safe, cohesive, healthy and inclusive communities, a strong and diverse economy and a valued and cherished environment”.  In 2003 we produced a Community Strategy that set out how we would achieve this vision.

Changes have taken place in our county since the publication of the strategy, so in 2008 we undertook a refresh of the Community Strategy, taking into account new Government guidelines and new priorities, such climate change and the growing number of migrant workers living in the county.

The second edition of the strategy is structured around the six themes of Worcestershire’s Local Area Agreement and has been developed from the priorities of the partnership’s theme groups, the six district LSPs’ community strategies and from those issues that are seen to be important by the public, drawn from the results of a recent Citizens’ Panel survey of 2,000 Worcestershire residents.

The second edition of the strategy was launched at the Worcestershire Assembly in November, with an opportunity for those attending to feed into the review process through themed workshops. This was followed by an extensive 12-week consultation period.

Further information is available from Jennifer Springer, Worcestershire Partnership Policy Officer, on 01905 728745.

Each of the six district councils in Worcestershire has also produced a Community Strategy for their area.
