Environment Group (WPEG) A better environment for today and tomorrow
There is a long established history of joint working between public, private and voluntary organisations within this field, and this is shown by the activity generated by this group. Overall, the theme group's aims are to advance the environmental threads of the Community Strategy, to act as Worcestershire’s environmental voice in the county and the region, and to act as the primary advisor to the Worcestershire Partnership on natural and built environment matters. The environment is both natural and built, and this is reflected in the membership and work of the theme group. The theme group produces an annual State of the Environment report. It has also prepared an action plan to promote and develop projects within local priority areas of Local Distinctiveness, Water, and Information and Awareness, and produced a directory of funding opportunities for environmental projects. The theme group also works on issues such as the Climate Change Plan. The group has good links with other theme groups, as environmental issues are clearly ‘cross-cutting. The Environment theme group Chair is Mark Middleton. Mark is Head of Planning, Economy and Research at Worcestershire County Council. The key contact person is Dale Bristow.
