Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) data from the British Trust for Ornithology will be used to derive this indicator.  BBS results are available by county from the BTO website. Unfortunately the old county of Hereford and Worcester is used as the administrative unit for this area so at the moment Worcestershire-only data is not available from the website.

Contact has been made with BTO regarding this issue and it is hoped that appropriate data will be made available in due course.

Once this is forth-coming it is hoped that we will be able to determine trends in breeding bird species diversity and distributions. It is hoped that data will be available in time for the 2008 State of the Environment report, and before then via the State of the Environment website.
