Safer Communities Board Communities that are safe and feel safe
The Safer Communities Board role is to develop and oversee partnership work on Community Safety, Substance Misuse, Domestic Violence and Youth Offending. Despite statistics which show that Worcestershire is a relatively safe place to live, crime and fear of crime remains a major concern for Worcestershire residents. Each District has a Community Safety Partnership – where agencies work together on local initiatives to tackle crime and fear of crime. The County Group works with district based partnerships to help them meet the requirements of the Crime and Disorder Act. This includes working and training, developing systems to support collection of data, monitoring performance, and some provision of grant aid for local initiatives – particularly those where there might be lessons learnt for countywide implementation. The Chair of the Board is David Wareing, who is Chief Executive of Worcester City Council. The key contact point is Catherine Driscoll, who is Head of Community and Partnership Development for Adult and Community Services at Worcestershire County Council. Catherine can be contacted on 01905 766580, or e-mailed on cdriscoll@worcestershire.gov.uk View minutes and agendas for this group here Last modified by: Worcestershire Partnership Editor on: Mon Oct 08 2007 16:43:31
