The coordinator’s role is one of coordination, dissemination, advocacy and inspiration, involving:
- Disseminating information – acting as the channel for information from the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games
- Raising awareness – using a range of communications channels to inspire and inform people and organisations
- Seeking policy support – encouraging a partnership approach across existing networks and delivery frameworks
- Creating and supporting innovate ideas and projects – using the inspiration of the Games as a catalyst for innovative ideas and projects
- Helping to achieve the sub-regional priorities in partnership with Herefordshire, including:
- Developing a unique and innovative programme for Worcester University’s world-class mobile human performance laboratory to aid the development of sports and disability sports performance across the region
- Providing the regional lead for Paralympic sports through the active development of a model for Herefordshire as an accessible location, supporting The Royal National College for the Blind’s planned expansion and opportunity to become a centre of excellence for Paralympic sport
- Ensuring local businesses have maximum opportunity to benefit from the Games
- Nurturing our exceptional young athletes to develop to their full potential
- Using the Games as the catalyst to increase participation and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle.

Short Term: 2007 - 2008 (up to Beijing Games) Programme of awareness raising (awareness)
Medium Term: 2008 - 2010 (after Beijing Games) Programme of project development and delivery (inspiration)
Long Term: 2011 - 2012 (flame arrives in UK up to London Games) Peak of project delivery (action)
